ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Photography has become my full time vocation since I retired as a Judge and lawyer in 1985. I moved to Los Altos, and later obtained my AA degree in Fine Arts Photography at Foothill College in 1996. In addition to showing my work in two cooperative galleries and other venues, I did photography for several Peninsula newspapers.

Nearly all of my work is now in color. Color seems to me to be more representative of what the eye sees. My most recently displayed images are in color, and were taken on many of our trips abroad; the most recent trip was to China.

Any black and white images I do are primarily in high speed infrared film, which produces an interesting justaposition of hues in its reaction to the infrared rays from the sun. Living trees and shrubs turn white; the sky is black, and clouds are white. Objects which do not reflect the sunight appear as they would if photographed with regular black and white film.
