ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Ken McCloud is a native of Los Altos, California and has lived in the Bay Area all his life. He has a very loving and understanding wife, Rose and both have worked for and retired from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Office of Law Enforcement. Both specialized in combatting the smuggling of endangered and protected species of wild fauna and flora.

All the times Ken was flying around America and numerous times around the world, Ken was studying the art of woodturning. Since Ken retired in 2008, due to an injury in the line of duty while he was working a long-term undercover investigation. After retirement Ken began to build his wood shop, generally purchasing used equipment or equipment on sale. Ken has built this wood shop to consist currently to include three various sized wood lathes and attends every opportunity for training he can to refine his skills as a woodturner.

Ken has entered his work in competition and received nothing lower than a second place price and has won first Place and “People’s Choice” Award. Ken has been a member of the American Association of Woodturners; received private training from professional woodturners and completely enjoys the art of woodturning.
