ARTIST'S STATEMENT

I was born in the mountain country surrounded by the Japan Alps. The starting point of my painting began at my birthplace with its grandeur scenery, clean air, and the changing colors of the four seasons.

Although it has been decades since I left Japan, my childhood memories hearten and comfort me as I strive to paint the landscapes of the Bay Area.

My recent works are watercolor paintings of blossoming landscapes of San Francisco that depict a tranquil beauty amonth city landmarks. I also use silk screening to achieve the colors and mood of the distinctive four seasons with traditional Japanese motifs.

I formally studied watercolor and silk screen painting at San Mateo and Canada Colleges. I have been a member of Gallery 9 for nearly 10 years.
