ARTIST'S STATEMENT

I graduated from Stanford University in a special program in Design that combined art and technology, and then studied 10 years with Alfredo D'Annunzio, a well-known local painter and instructor. I've always worked in oil paint and really enjoy the depth and richness it brings to an image. I do a lot of sketching in nature, and combine that with visual material from other sources including my imagination to produce images that are then drawn, redrawn, and painted using traditional art techniques. The paintings are playful with different layers of meaning interwoven, and I hope they provide a little joy, ask a few questions, and encourage a creative point of view.
